Unit 3.1: Marketing | Branding

Branded business are different to unbranded businesses in the following ways:

  • brands need advertising to reinforce the brand’s quality
  • higher quality than unbranded products
  • always of the same standard (assured quality)
  • unique packaging
  • unique name (brand name)
  • higher price than unbranded products
  • creates a brand image
  • encourages customers to keep buying it (brand loyalty)
Brand Name: The unique name of a product that distinguishes it from other brands.

Brand Image: An image or identity given to a product which gives it a personality of its own and distinguishes it from its competitors’ brands.

Brand Loyalty: When the consumer keep buying the same brand again and again instead of choosing a competitor’s brand.
